Meet the Team: Jonathan Moore, Summer Intern

Jonathan Moore, Summer Intern 2023

As our firm grows, one of our goals is to develop a robust summer Internship program to introduce the next generation to the field of fee-only financial planning. This summer, we are fortunate to have Jonathan Moore, a financial planning student at BYU – Idaho joining us. While still a student, Jonathan has an impressive resume of experience within the industry and he’s been a great addition to our team. Here’s a little more about Jonathan:

What led to your interest in financial planning?

Since I was a kid, I have enjoyed budgeting. My dad taught me the more money I had, the more options I had. I always tried to save as much as I could so if I ever wanted a special toy or game, I was prepared. Once college came, I knew I wanted a career related to money, but I had no idea what. After attending a few academic clubs, I fell in love with financial planning. It was everything I wanted in a career. Helping people retire the way they deserve is very fulfilling. I am passionate about financial planning because I want to help people become financially free so they can give to their families and communities.

What attracted you to the Arkansas Financial Group?

There are a few characteristics I look for when evaluating financial planning firms. One important aspect is the fee structure and investment philosophy. Another is the company culture. The Arkansas Financial Group has a perfect blend of what makes a great wealth management company! Each advisor here is a fiduciary and puts their clients’ interests first. They truly know their clients personally and work hard for them. I wanted to work for company that is down to earth and treats their employees as well as they do their clients. The Arkansas Financial Group meets those criteria very well.

What are your hobbies?

I love everything sports and outdoors! Most weekends, you’ll find me backpacking or golfing. After studying on weeknights, I’ll be running along the Arkansas river trail or playing sports with my group like pickleball or volleyball.

I am competitive in nature. Whether it’s Monopoly with the family, or competing in a half marathon, I try to give every challenge my all!

Favorite Season?

The fall is the best! Not only are the temperatures cooling down, but the nature is so beautiful. I love driving through the Ozarks and seeing the rolling amber trees! There are a lot of great holidays and it’s a good time to enjoy life.

What values drive you?

Responsibility, hard work, and humility – I believe obtaining these values is the key to happiness.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I love gardening and ranching! My family has a regenerative, renewable cattle farm in southern Missouri. I grew up in the country and loved hobby farming. Some of my fondest memories are picking raspberries in early June with family and friends, then baking delicious pies. I loved gardening so much; I even took greenhouse all 4 years of high school!

With the short internship period, not many of our clients will get to meet Jonathan before he goes back to school. I hope you enjoyed learning a bit about him. As we continue to expand out internship program, keep us in mind for college students you may know who would find this a rewarding career. We are deeply dedicated to this work and enjoy introducing it to the next generation. As always, we are here for you. Please email or call if you want to set up a Zoom video conference meeting or talk by phone.
