Brian Barnett

A Sad Farewell

Two weeks ago, we received news that made us all quite sad. Brian Barnett has made the difficult decision to resign to become full time caregiver and “home schooler” to his young daughters, and today was his last day. Many of you have gotten to know Brian well over the past seven years as he has served as our Client Services Manager. He has been helpful, friendly and an all-around professional and gentleman. We are grateful for his service over the years and wish him well in this next phase.

As we say goodbye to Brian, it seems like a good time to make sure you know the rest of our staff, as we have grown over the years and added new faces. We realize that you may not have had the opportunity to meet everyone in our office.  We are fortunate to have a committed team of advisors and support staff who consistently deliver excellent client service.

Here’s a summary of our current staff with pictures, so you can put a face with a name the next time you call or visit our office.

Asia McCollum

Asia McCollum

Asia is our newest addition, joining us early this year in administrative support. Asia has a Bachelors Degree in Finance from Henderson St. University and has spent her career in banking and bank management. If you’ve called our office in the past few weeks, you have probably had the pleasure of speaking with Asia. As we’ve been dealt great change over the past several weeks due to COVID-10, she has consistently maintained a positive attitude and we’re excited to have her join the team.

Quintin Schellenger

Quintin Schellenger

Quintin joined us in January 2019 as an assistant planner, after a Summer internship in 2018. With a degree in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University, he has been learning our processes and the way we serve clients from the ground up. Quintin assists in many of our client meetings and has been helpful assisting Mary with our PlanFirst! software. He’s learning first-hand how financial planning works in the real world!

Gari Bassett

Gari Bassett

Gari joined us in January 2017 as our Office Manager and keeps our office running smoothly. Gari has a diverse background of management experience and has been a huge addition to our firm. Gari also occasionally assists in client meetings, so if you haven’t met her yet you may see her next time you’re in the office. Oh, and if you like the snacks and other amenities, thank Gari!

Mary McCraw, CFP®

Mary joined the firm in 2008 as an advisor. She leads our planning efforts for all clients in addition to serving her own clients. Prior to joining our firm she ran the planning software for a firm in Los Angeles that served actors, musicians and athletes. She has a Financial Planning degree from North Texas University. Mary interacts with clients frequently during meetings, so is a familiar face to most of our clients.

Ralph Broadwater, M.D., CFP®, AIF®

RAlph Broadwater

Ralph also joined the firm in 2008 as an advisor. Financial Planning is a second career for Ralph, who also works at UAMS as a surgical oncologist. As a surgeon, he understands physicians’ unique issues, and has a wealth of experience advising doctors on their investments, financial planning and quality of life.

Kristina K. Bolhouse, CPA/PFS, CFP®

Kristina Bolhouse

Kristina joined AFG in 1999 as a career change from practicing as a CPA with Ernst and Young in Michigan. She has become quite engaged in our community over the years and particularly in her Rotary Club. She is the incoming Vice-President of Club 99. She has been serving clients for over 20 years at AFG and is our resident tax expert.

Rick Adkins, CFP®, ChFC, MBA

Rick Adkins

Rick is the “old guy,” founder, CEO and President of AFG. He was a pioneer in fee-only financial planning and continues to be a leader in the development of our profession, having served as Board Chair for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. He has provided financial counsel to clients for over forty years.

As always, we are here for you. Please email or call if you want to set up a Zoom video conference meeting or talk by phone.
